Summer Dessert Series

August 1st, 2018

Summer brings a host of welcome changes. With schedules that are more flexible, many of us can afford to do more things that we enjoy with friends, family, and neighbors. So it is only natural that our rhythm as the church changes as well. To capitalize on this, we will be hosting a Summer Dessert Series on four Wednesday nights spread throughout the summer (June 20, July 11, August 1, and August 22).

For our third night together, we will be hearing stories and receiving updates from our recent trip to the Middle East. How is God moving among the peoples and workers in Central Asia? How can we continue to pray for and support them? Join us as our global missions team leads us in sharing stories and insights from our recent trip.

Where?

The Fourhundred, 400 West 32nd Street, Richmond, VA 23225

When?

Wednesday night, August 1st, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. We’ll begin right at 6:00 p.m. with worship and prayer, then move into a time of hearing updates on how God is moving in Central Asia, followed by some Q&A. Around 7:30 p.m., we’ll share some dessert together in the event hall and parlor.

Will There Be Childcare?

Yes. For ages 6 months to 10 years (finished 4th graders). Childcare will be on a first come, first serve basis. Check-in and check-out will be similar to Sunday morning. Middle and high schoolers are encouraged to attend the main session each week. As this evening will be more story based, we would also encourage parents to let their K-4 students join us in the sanctuary.

Film and Theology

August 17th, 2018

Wakanda Forever!

What can we learn from Marvel's mighty masterpiece about a fictional kingdom that has thrived in contrast to an ailing world? Or then again...has it? And at what cost? As Christians, how do we alleviate the friction we feel between who we are as kingdom citizens, and who we are as citizens of nations scattered across the globe? How much of our identity stems from our true home, and how much have we absorbed from the culture around you? Join John Sizemore and Shelby Murphy Friday night, August 17th, as we watch and discuss Ryan Coogler's Black Panther.

Black Panther is rated PG-13 for “prolonged sequences of action violence, and a brief rude gesture,” and childcare will not be provided. Free popcorn, candy, and coke will be on hand, so don’t miss our final Superhero Summer offering with Film and Theology!
